CAA 65th Anniversary
The Colorado Auctioneers Association celebrated their 65th Anniversary with a competitive championship at the 2023 Colorado Auctioneers Convention held in Denver in February. Peak Auto Auctions was proud to be a sponsor and support the association. Peak’s very own Operations Manager and Lead Auctioneer, Mike Whitfield, has been serving on the CAA board since 2017 and was elected President of the association.
The association provides educational opportunities for all professionals that utilize competitive bidding as a form of commerce and advocacy on issues relevant to all auction professionals in a variety of asset classes including vehicles, real estate, personal property and livestock.
Bid Calling
Once every 5 years, the association kicks-off the annual convention with a fun and fan favorite bid calling championship, the Challenge of Champions. The winning competitor registered for this competition is crowned the Colorado State Champion Auctioneer. The champion not only receives a championship belt buckle, but also a cash prize in addition to ‘bragging’ rights for 5 years. These series of championship contests are held to promote and celebrate the best auction talent in the State. Contests include an Auctioneer Championship, a Ringman Championship, a Team Championship and a Novice Championship.
Champion
Mike was awarded the Ringman Championship in 2020, and finished 2nd in the Auctioneer Championship in 2023.
“I have been extremely blessed in my career with the incredible mentoring that I have received from my fellow CAA members over the past 9 years. It is indeed an honor and privilege to serve the CAA as President for 2023. I am now in a position where I am starting to share my talent and wisdom with newer members of the Association, and I take that responsibility with a tremendous amount of pride and honor.” – Mike Whitfield
